H2O - Hope 2 Offer

Marysville Mission

On January 11th 2010, 11 members of Lismore Church of Christ spent 2 weeks in Marysville Victoria to rebuild the workship centre at El Kanah. El Kanah is a retreat house which was totally destroyed in the devestating bushfires last year. The team built the retreat house up to floor level but there was so much more that happened.

There were stories of Hope emanating from all corners of Marysville. From the supermarket, to the bakery, to the local residence who showed their appreciation and curiosity. "Why would people from far north NSW come to help us" was a common theme.

Pastor Phil Ravesteyn said it all in his interview to NBN news. "We want them to know they are not alone". Lives were impacted and transformed in the 2 weeks and there remains a lot more to be done.

Join a mission team to Marysville Victoria

In January 2010 CareWorks sent a team of people to Marysville, Victoria. This trip was the first of many with two more scheduled for later this year (April and June). If you are interested in joining a team please contact Joanne Mohr at the CareWorks Office at joanne@careworks.org.au.

"We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of people and are very excited at the prospect of the Churches of Christ, NSW sending down a team of people to rebuild our Chapel.

We were very sad when we discovered our former Chapel had been burnt down.  Of course it had always played a very significant role in the ministry of El Kanah and God transformed the lives of many people in this building. However, we are confident that our new Chapel will be used by our Lord in the same way"  - El Kanah.
